New York Made Me
This post is sponsored post by Macys. All opinions remain my own.
I’ll never forget when recently someone told me that they didn’t envy me for growing up in NYC. They explained that they couldn’t imagine having spent their childhood in such a chaotic, challenging, non-stop city. I stopped and smiled because those are some of the reasons that I love this place so much. The hustle. The people. The opportunities. I was born and raised in this crazy place called New York, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
My mom loves to tell the story about when I was a small child and she would push me around the streets in a stroller. I would become so excited by the electric energy of all of the hustle and bustle that all of sudden, I would throw my fist into the air and with my very limited vocabulary, chant, “NEW YORK CITY! NEW YORK CITY!”
From early childhood, I was exposed to all kinds of cultures, foods, religion, art, fashion, and people. Because of everything around me, I was experimental and curious with the trends I tried, the music I listened to, and the hobbies that I engrossed myself in.
I had the opportunity to find my independence at a young age. Some may say that I grew up to fast, but I wholeheartedly disagree. The energy of this city is what shaped me into the ambitious person I am today.
I lived in NYC till I was 18, moved to LA for five years, and the Boston for three years. After being away from this city for eight years, nothing felt better than returning to this place that has always felt like home in my heart. It’s crowded, fast-paced, and oftentimes difficult, but it’s also one of the most inspiring, diverse, and exhilarating places in the world. You can come here to reinvent, explore, or ground yourself, or all of the above. Coming back to NYC in my late twenties was the best possible decision I could have made for myself.
A dynamic city has got to have a dynamic fragrance to keep up with it. Macy’s Tory Burch Bel Azur Eau De Parfum is a refreshing new fragrance that exudes the golden sun shimmering on a sea of clear blue waters. A burst of bergamot rejuvenates, neroli and peony and earthy vetiver with creamy cedarwood warm the skin. A perfect escape — encased in a beautiful glass bottle in blue ombres. This scent was created for Macy’s, which is the fragrance destination with over 200 fragrances offered, many of them new and exclusive. It’s the perfect gift for this upcoming holiday season for the city gal in your life.
