Summer in the City

Summer in New York City is in full swing. The ice cream trucks are all out playing that annoying but also sweetly nostalgic song, the sprinklers are going off in the parks, New Yorkers are sitting out on the side walk cafes drinking rosé, and the light is glowing late into the evening. As much as we complain about it, we also love it. So much. There’s nothing like summer in NYC.

And since there’s nothing else like it, I recently teamed up with Polaroid Originals to share what my summer looks like in this urban jungle.

Before going any further, I think we all gotta stop for a second and just agree on the love we all feel for a Polaroid photo, RIGHT?! It started for me back in the 90’s, the decade of my childhood, when there was no iPhone, there was no instagram, and the word ‘selfie’ did not et exist. A Polaroid photo was the only kind of instant we had.

Now, fast forward to 2018, I have 20,000 photos in my iPhone (it’s crazy, I know, but my friend has 50,000 on her phone so I’m off the hook!) and so many of us obsessively take a bajillion photos in order to get that “insta worthy” one. Myself included!

So when Polaroid Originals asked me to partner with them to share my summer in the city through their new summer frames, it felt like the perfect mix of a nod to my childhood within the context of my current life. I loved the challenge of capturing a moment in one attempt. As Eminem so perfectly says, “you only got one shot” … (I’m tempted to sing the rest of the song because I but I will spare you and leave it at that).

The summer frames include the Ice Cream Pastels Edition, the Tropics Edition, and the Deep Sea Dive Edition. All super fun, colorful, and perfect to capture these fleeting summer moments.

Here are some of my favorite moments from Summer so far!
